Smoke Signal - 1/5/98 Your Chief, Soaring Eagle, is happy to report that the Nation once again had a wise and wonderful event at the place of many animals in controlled habitat on the sixth day of the Long Night Moon. We had 230 members of your Mighty Nation attend the event during the two periods of the day to see the Great Story Teller Fred Shaw tell us wonderful stories of how his Tribe the Great Shaw-wah-nas-si-neesh-nobi (Shawnee) remant tribe came to settle and develop in this great land. He started with his whistle and then told us many stories and showed us many, many animals like aligators, turtles and hawks. All were very interesting and taught us well about the stoires of our native american ancestors. We then explored the place of many animals in the controlled habitat with the bitter cold and mighty wind blowing. There was a wonderous place of many fireflies in the bushes and trees. We warmed ourselve in the shelters where Wotonga the god of fire warned our drink and our bodies. It was a great day requiring little wampum for each family and was good. We have many things coming soon, please look for the sign from the Nation of the coming Skating event and the picture show in the great humped teepee by the iron hiorse tracks. Be well. |
