Who We're Looking For: Fathers with kids ranging from Kindergarten through the 3rd grade. Fathers who want to spend more quality time with their kids. Fathers who want to have fun with their kids. Fathers who want to help their kids grow in a non-threatening environment. Fathers who want to strengthen their relationships with their kids. Our PURPOSE of the Y Guides / Princesses Program is to foster the understanding and companionship between FATHERS and CHILDREN. Our SLOGAN for the PRINCESS program is FRIENDS ALWAYS and for the GUIDES is PALS FOREVER. As we seek to deliver on the purpose and aims of the program, we in the Big Forest Nation also try to keep this effort in balance with the hectic lifestyles of today's family. We know that with sports, school, church and other activities, there is precious little time to spend quality time between Fathers and children. Therefore as we administer this program, we always try to make it flexible and easy to anticipate. Nation Information Our tribes average 5-10 families. This program runs from Kindergarten to Third grade. There is also a Trailblazers program which takes children from 4th to 6th grade (optionally to the 8th grade). Our Nation assembles monthly between October and June for Nation events, usually on a Saturday or Sunday. We suggest that tribes meet monthly, rotating among the tribe members homes or at an activity location (i.e., bowling, biking, etc.). Attendance is not mandatory for events or meetings, although we do enforce one rule, if a Father cannot make an event or meeting, then neither can the child. Each Tribe has a Chief which has to attend a monthly Longhouse meeting which generally falls on the Monday following the Nation Event at 7:00-8:00 PM.
